How does the Liturgy affect you?

Dear Friends

We will be taking a short break from our activities for two weeks and will resume on Saturday 8th August with Vespers at 3.30 pm and Sunday 9th August with the Liturgy at 9.30 am.

And this is a good moment for each of us to reflect: what does it mean to me that the Liturgy is served regularly in Eastleigh? What does it mean for the town, the borough, and the wider area? If we believe, as the three Disciples at the Mount of Transfiguration, “Lord, it is good for us to be here,” (Matthew 17:4, Mark 9:5, Luke 9:33) and that “we [have] beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.” (John 1:14) If we believe that the Lord said,

Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.

Matthew 28:19–20

then how does that affect what we are doing as a community in Eastleigh?

My dear brothers and sisters: the Lord calls you to be his witnesses here and now.

But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.

Acts 1:8

Because to be a Christian is not merely about joining a club through baptism, but to be an active member of the body of Christ.
